Frugi (Cut4 Cloth Limited)

Bestselling organic childrenswear brand

What we do:

Frugi is the UK’s bestselling organic childrenswear brand, proving that ethical and organic clothing can be bright, beautiful and successful! The company was born in 2004 and continues to grow at 25% every year, selling our organic childrenswear through a rapidly expanding network of over 500 stockists in more than 50 countries worldwide.
We strive to be ethical in everything we do, each year donating 1% of our turnover to our Little Clothes BIG Change charity project which includes a children’s charity, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and an orphanage in India.
Over the last 12 months we have been earmarked by The Sunday Times Fast Track Ones to Watch list, received GOLD in the Healthy Workplace Awards, expanded to more than 80 permanent team members with even more joining us for our busy seasons, grown our turnover to £8m, donated over £78k to charity, and eaten a lot of pasties (and cake!).
We strive to be the most fun, desirable and trusted clothing brand on the planet, but this is only the start of it…

Why we became a healthy workplace:

Frugi's most important asset is its people - without them we simply wouldn't function.

So, looking after our people makes perfect sense to us.

Like most employers we want to support the development of skills and the expertise of our people, but we also recognise that having a healthy workforce is equally important. Our healthy workplace scheme helps us to focus on well-being in our teams.

Recent health and well being activities:

We have a range of regular activities available for our teams to engage with, such as weekly yoga sessions, regular lunchtime walks, discounted gym membership options, a corporate eye care scheme, cycle to work scheme - to name a few!
We also arrange ad hoc health focused events to help introduce our teams to new health ideas and concepts, for example, we ran some mindfulness sessions with a coach who taught us about mindfulness and meditation techniques. We also introduced the Scentered approach to mindfulness with some lovely individual sessions and free samples.
We've had a drive on healthy eating with a presentation from a nutrition expert and a visit from Riverford Organics. We've also made a pledge to the Sugar Smart campaign. Admittedly, we are partial to a little cake at Frugi, but we always ensure our meetings and events are catered with super healthy foods!
Our Frugi Fun Committee often arrange social events for our team (and sometimes our customers too!) with a healthy twist, such as our Rockpool Ramble or our summer beach games, bbq and snorkelling event. We have teams enter the Get Active Cornwall Challenge too!
We love to raise awareness of all the various health campaigns and support our staff with our very own Health & Well-being guide.

Having the Healthy Workplace initiative in place at Frugi has really helped us to focus properly on what really matters to us at Frugi. That’s having a happy and healthy workforce, who feel valued and looked after. The huge variety of activities that have been made available by Janine and the team has kept everything really fresh and interesting – it’s definitely enhancing our lives at Frugi without a doubt!

Mind, a Mental Health Charity, released a report in May 2011 claiming that UK businesses could save £8 billion per year if they managed workplace stress properly.

The survey also found that 41% of workers experience stress, making it more of a concern than personal finances, health and relationships.
