Education

Why we became a healthy workplace:

Health and Wellbeing is at the core of all that we do. It drives our daily practice and is threaded through our school development plan. We believe it is the catalyst to successful learners.

Recent health and well being activities:

Weekly keep fit sessions for all staff.

Muscular skeletal health screenings for all staff and a programme of interventions which seek to correct any problems.

Half termly social events for all staff to build on team spirit.

Success Story:

Through our whole school ethos incorporating health and wellbeing at its core, it has had an impact on many staff members who have reflected on their own lifestyle. For example; weight loss, giving up smoking and taking up a variety of exercise in and out of school.

Staff appreciate the termly health and wellbeing questionnaire, facilitated by the health and wellbeing co-ordinator. This is analysed by SLT and actions taken as a result. Staff feel their voice is heard. For example; marking was becoming unrealistic to maintain. This was reviewed and as a result a new strategy has been and is being put into place.

Communication

Establishing and using effective channels of communication that engage employees are a key component in promoting employee health.  Examples: Health Notice Boards, Team Briefings, Internet/Intranet, Email, Wage Packet Inserts, Staff Surveys.
