Truro Learning Academy is a Primary School based in the heart of Truro.

What we do:

We aim to provide outstanding learning experiences and opportunities for all pupils, enabling them to succeed, progress and achieve their individual targets and expected outcomes.

Why we became a healthy workplace:

Truro Learning Academy became a healthy workplace to ensure our staff feel valued, appreciated and most of all supported whilst they are ensuring our pupils are provided with valuable learning opportunities. It is important to us that our staff feel healthy, happy and mindful and able to work effectively along with our healthy workplace support system.

Health award audit complete

Wellbeing training opportunities advertised

Stress in the work place attended by two teachers (Autumn 2016)

Mindfulness training attended by TA (Autumn 2016)

Autumn INSET – time in classrooms planned to allow staff to catch up and prevent stress from building up.

Vera flow yoga session on Monday 4-5.

Doughnut day – Friday

Health assessments

Tea/coffee provided/Coffee machine/Water chiller purchased

Termly social events

Introduced the ‘box of joy.’

Success Story:

After our health assessments many staff purchased and began using water bottles due to the majority of us being informed we were dehydrated during the health assessment checks.

Working Days Lost

The facts

Musculoskeletal conditions generally rise with age. The age group 50-64 are most affected by sickness absence not to mention the UK 50+ population is expected to increase by 32% between 2008 and 2030.
