Trans Fat Business Pledge

Date: 21 Sep 2012

The pledge that businesses are asked to make is simply:

“We have already removed, or will remove, artificial trans fats from our products.”

In summary, it requires that:

  • Fats and oils are free from partially hydrogenated vegetables oil and contain no more that 2% total trans fats.
  • Food service providers procure products and adapt their practices to remove artificial trans fats.

Casestudy

St. Austell Brewery won a gold award on their first year of taking part in the programme. Chrissie Knight, Occupational Health Manager for the brewery, commented, “Caring for and investing in the workforce has always been a priority at the Brewery and it is wonderful to gain recognition for the work that takes place at all levels to ensure that we remain an employer of choice for people in the South West, which is not only because of the opportunities that exist at many levels within the organisation, but also because of the support and benefits that exist for all employees”

Employee Feedback

“I think the range of added extras Coastline offers its employees, from corporate gym memberships, to flu jabs, to confidential counselling services, is fantastic. If I didn’t already work here, I’d want to!” – Cheryl Houghton, Communications Advisor
